Fall 2026 city schedules
Find published leaf and yard waste dates, zone instructions, bag rules, branch limits, and the official local schedule. Programs differ sharply, so start with the city serving the address.

Some cities collect leaves weekly, others publish a few fall dates, and some require an address lookup or service request.
Tempe separates green organics from the bulk trash pile
Tempe collects resident produced green organics during each section's every other month bulk week. Keeping separate piles for plant material and bulk trash allows the City to divert the organics from the landfill.
Oakland collects plant debris in the weekly compost cart
Oakland households use the green compost cart for routine plant debris every week. A bulky appointment can include limited paper bagged plant debris and prepared branches when the material fits the appointment rules.
Use the DC leaf tracker before raking leaves to the curb
DC has not yet posted the 2026 to 2027 section dates. DPW normally announces each section through the leaf tracker and collects leaves twice. TrashDayFinder will add the new dates after DPW publishes them.
Cape Coral collects yard waste on the weekly trash day
Small yard material under 50 pounds should be bundled, tied, neatly stacked, or placed in an approved bag or container. Loose palm fronds stay together with their cut ends facing the same direction.
Fort Lauderdale gives yard waste its own weekly route
Leaves, grass, plant clippings, twigs, weeds, roots, and small palm fronds that fit use the green cart. Larger prepared tree material may go beside the cart for yard collection or with the assigned monthly bulk service according to City rules.
Fort Myers gives yard waste a separate weekly route
The City collects leaves, branches, and other qualifying resident yard trimmings every week. The yard and bulk route may fall on a different weekday from garbage and recycling, so use the address map before setout.
Gainesville collects prepared yard waste every week
Leaves, grass, and small trimmings must go in brown paper lawn bags or reusable containers weighing no more than 40 pounds. Loose leaves, pine needles, and plastic bags are not collected.
Hollywood collects yard waste every week
The weekly route accepts loose leaves, brush, palm fronds, tree fruit, and prepared trimmings. Grass clippings use a clear bag, and an oversized pile is not collected.
Jacksonville collects prepared yard waste every week
Natural leaves, grass, branches, logs, and stumps use the weekly yard route. Keep the material separate from garbage, recycling, bulk, fencing, plywood, and other manufactured wood.
Miami-Dade uses three different paths for leaves and branches
Small household yard material may go in the green garbage cart. Large limbs and branches may use a booked bulky appointment, and eligible County customers may take approved tree and yard cuttings to a Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Center.
Orlando collects up to four cubic yards of yard waste weekly
Leaves, grass, twigs, and prepared branches use the address's weekly yard waste day. Bag or bundle the material and keep it out of streets, storm drains, and both City carts.
Pembroke Pines combines yard waste and bulk in one route
Eastern Waste Systems collects one mixed bulk and yard pile twice each month. Loose leaves and small branches must be bagged, tied, or bundled to prevent spilling.
Port St. Lucie collects up to 4 cubic yards of yard waste weekly
The weekly route accepts prepared resident yard material within the pile, piece, and container limits. Loose leaves and clippings must be containerized or placed in paper bags, while larger branches must be cut and stacked neatly.
St. Petersburg residents can use five brush and recycling sites
Eligible residents may take approved brush and yard waste from their property to a City site at no charge. Large curbside quantities use Special Pickup and may require a quote.
Tallahassee collects yard waste every other week
Yard waste uses the same Red or Blue week and weekday as bulky items, but it must remain in a separate pile. Small loose material belongs in paper bags or an eligible reusable container rather than plastic bags.
Tampa collects leaves and prepared yard waste every week
Eligible City customers may set out up to four cubic yards on the address's weekly yard waste day. Tampa does not accept plastic bags, including bags labeled compostable or biodegradable.
Chicago residents bag leaves and request a yard waste pickup
Chicago does not publish one citywide fall leaf calendar. The Department of Streets and Sanitation tells residents to remove leaves from streets and gutters, bag them, and request yard waste collection through CHI 311.
Baltimore collects five bags weekly and offers larger fall requests
Baltimore's current solid waste plan says residents may place up to five bags of leaves with the weekly trash collection. From October through January, residents may request a special Monday pickup through 311 for up to 20 bags of yard waste.
Boston published ten fall leaf and yard waste collection weeks
Eligible buildings with six or fewer units receive yard waste collection on the normal trash day during the highlighted weeks. When an address has two trash days, use the first trash day of that week.
Detroit yard waste collection resumed March 30, 2026
Detroit collects leaves, grass, small twigs, and prepared brush on the address schedule. The City confirmed the 2026 restart date, but has not yet announced the final December collection date for this season.
Minneapolis collects yard waste weekly through December 4
Minneapolis yard waste collection is included for City Solid Waste customers. In 2026, weekly collection runs on the regular garbage day through the address pickup day during the week of November 30 through December 4.
NYC collects leaves every week on the recycling day
New York City no longer uses a limited fall leaf schedule. Leaves and other plant waste go with curbside compost every week on the address recycling day, and separating yard waste from trash is mandatory.
Charlotte collects leaves and prepared yard waste every week
Leaves, grass, small branches, and prepared brush normally follow the weekly garbage day. Yard waste is suspended during the MLK Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day holiday weeks in 2026.
Cleveland maps loose leaf areas and offers 20 bags citywide
Designated high generation areas receive at least two loose leaf passes during the eight week November and December program, weather permitting. Every Cleveland resident may instead place up to 20 bagged leaves with regular trash.
Columbus collects leaves and yard waste every other week
Columbus residents receiving eligible City refuse service use the assigned Zone A or Zone B yard waste schedule. Leaves belong in paper bags or marked reusable containers, not loose at the curb or inside the trash cart.
Philadelphia has not posted its 2026 leaf recycling schedule yet
Philadelphia runs a seasonal leaf recycling program with mechanical collection in selected neighborhoods and bagged leaf drop off options. The City page still shows the 2025 schedule, so TrashDayFinder will not present those old dates as a 2026 calendar.
Pittsburgh's fall yard waste collection is November 7
Pittsburgh published two Saturday curbside yard waste events for 2026. The spring event occurred April 25, and the remaining fall event is Saturday, November 7.
Austin collects leaves weekly and larger brush by appointment
Leaves, grass, and small yard trimmings use the weekly green compost cart. Extra trimmings may go in paper lawn bags, while larger branches and brush use a separate on demand appointment.
Dallas collects prepared leaves during the monthly brush week
Dallas includes securely bagged leaves, grass clippings, and small yard trimmings in the address's monthly brush and bulky collection. This is different from the weekly garbage and recycling route.
Fort Worth collects prepared yard trimmings every week
Leaves, grass, and prepared brush use the weekly yard trimmings route, not the monthly bulk week. Paper bags, bundles, and larger limb piles have different preparation limits.
Houston separates yard trimmings from heavy tree waste
Leaves and grass belong in approved compostable bags or a reusable resident container. Small logs may be bundled, while larger clean limbs and stumps follow the assigned heavy tree waste collection.
San Antonio offers two free bagged leaf collections each fiscal year
Eligible Solid Waste customers request leaf pickup separately from brush, bulky, and green cart service. The allowance resets October 1 and requires kraft paper bags.
Seattle waives extra leaf bag fees throughout November
Food and yard waste customers receive weekly compost collection. From November 1 through 30, eligible households may set out up to 10 extra yard waste bags on each collection day without the normal extra bag charge.
Milwaukee added a paper bag leaf option for fall 2026
Residents may rake loose leaves into the curb lane from October 1 through November 15. New for 2026, residents may instead use biodegradable paper bags and request collection through 414-286-CITY.
Weather and crews can change timing
Published dates are the starting point. Weather, equipment, neighborhood zones, and staffing can change the exact collection pass.
