Austin collects household trash every week from eligible Resource Recovery customers. Place the cart at the curb by 5:30 a.m. and keep it at least five feet from vehicles, mailboxes, trees, wires, and other carts.
Austin collects curbside recycling every other week. Weekly green cart composting occurs on the trash day and accepts food scraps, food soiled paper, leaves, grass, and prepared small branches.

Austin Resource Recovery gives eligible customers up to three appointments for each on demand service every calendar year. My Schedule combines those requests with weekly trash and compost, every other week recycling, and holiday slides.
Brush and household hazardous waste have separate allowances.

Leaves, grass, and small yard trimmings use the weekly green compost cart. Extra trimmings may go in paper lawn bags, while larger branches and brush use a separate on demand appointment.

Accepted examples
Bulk appointments accept furniture, doors, household carpet, prepared appliances, pallets, nail free lumber, lawn equipment with fluids removed, rolled fencing, and up to eight passenger tires with the rims removed.
Not accepted
Brush, ordinary household trash, cardboard, mirrors, loose sheet glass, tile, boats, motorcycles, vehicle bodies, hazardous material, and construction or remodeling debris do not belong in the bulk appointment.
