Pittsburgh collects ordinary household refuse weekly. Containers may not exceed 35 gallons and bags or containers may not exceed 35 pounds.
Curbside recycling is collected every other week for eligible city-serviced properties. Use PGH.ST or the annual neighborhood calendar to identify the correct recycling week.

Pittsburgh Environmental Services collects common refuse and eligible bulky household items on the property's regular weekly collection day.

Each dwelling may set out up to two eligible bulk items per week. Carpeting and fencing must be tied and bundled, weigh no more than 35 pounds, and be no longer than five feet.
Set items at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before and no later than 6 a.m. on collection day. Remove empty containers by 10 p.m. that day and maintain clear access from the street.
