About TrashDayFinder

A free, independent resource that makes it simple to find out how bulk trash and bulky-item pickup works in your city.

Why this site exists

Getting rid of a broken couch, an old mattress, or a pile of yard waste should be straightforward. In practice, the rules are scattered across hard-to-navigate city websites and waste-hauler pages, each with its own scheduling process, size limits, placement rules, and lists of what is and isn’t accepted. People end up guessing, and guessing wrong often means a missed pickup or a fine.

TrashDayFinder was built to fix that. We collect the bulk trash, bulky-item, and recycling rules for each city into a single, plain-English guide, so you can understand your options in a couple of minutes instead of digging through municipal PDFs.

How we put our guides together

Each city guide is researched from official sources: the city’s public works or sanitation department, the contracted waste hauler, or the local 311 service. For every city we capture the same essentials so you always know what to look for:

  • How the program works (appointment-based, scheduled, or set-out-by-date)
  • How to schedule a pickup, including the official phone number or request form
  • How often you can schedule and any limits on size or quantity
  • Where and when to place items for collection
  • What items are accepted, and what is not
  • A direct link to the official city or hauler page

We always point you to the official source

Rules and schedules change, and cities sometimes update fees or processes with little notice. We do our best to keep guides current, but we never want to be your only source. That’s why every city page links directly to the official government or hauler page, so you can confirm the current details before you schedule.

Independent and not affiliated with any city

TrashDayFinder is an independent project. We are not a city government, a waste-hauling company, or affiliated with any of them. We don’t schedule pickups on your behalf or charge you anything to use the site. Our goal is simply to make local waste information easier to find and understand.

How the site is supported

To keep the guides free, the Site may display advertising and may, in the future, include links to relevant services. This never changes the information we publish: our guides are based on official sources regardless of any advertising.
