Collection is generally Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday. Roll-cart households receive green-cart trash on the first collection day; alley dumpsters are generally emptied on the first collection day.
Roll-cart households receive blue-cart recycling on the second collection day, Thursday or Friday. Alley-service households use city recycling drop-off locations rather than curbside recycling collection.

How St. Louis service works
Use the city's address lookup to identify the property's bulk region. Region 1 is collected during the week of the first Monday, Region 2 the second Monday, Region 3 the third Monday, and Region 4 the fourth Monday of each month. Ordinary monthly pickup does not require a separate appointment.

St. Louis Refuse Division collects up to three eligible bulky or BOAT-E items once a month during the address's assigned regional collection week.
Use the city's address lookup to identify the property's bulk region. Region 1 is collected during the week of the first Monday, Region 2 the second Monday, Region 3 the third Monday, and Region 4 the fourth Monday of each month. Ordinary monthly pickup does not require a separate appointment.
Up to three eligible items may be set out during the assigned monthly bulk week. Smaller loose material must be contained or bundled; a container or bundle may not exceed 100 pounds, six feet in length, or two feet in diameter.
Place items out by 6 a.m. Monday of the assigned collection week and allow the entire week for collection. Curb-service homes use the curb; alley-service homes use the alley behind the home, away from refuse containers and without blocking the alley. Crews cannot enter private property.

Accepted examples
Household furniture, appliances, bundled branches or logs, vehicle batteries, used motor oil, vehicle or trailer tires, and electronics such as computers, printers, telephones, and power cords are among the city's listed items. Refrigerator doors must be removed.
Not accepted
Railroad ties are not accepted because of creosote. Regular bagged refuse does not belong in the bulk pile, and bulky or BOAT-E items must not be placed inside regular refuse containers. Remodeling debris and household hazardous waste use separate city disposal instructions.
