How Avondale service works
No scheduling is required; items must be set out by 5 a.m. on the Monday of the scheduled zone week. For questions, call Public Works at (623) 333-4400.
Avondale monthly zone collection
Use the zone week instead of making an appointment
Avondale assigns every City serviced household to a monthly bulk trash zone. There is no appointment for the standard route. Find the zone on the official map and have the pile ready by 5 a.m. Monday so crews can collect at any point during that service week.
The exact week depends on the address's published zone.
The City describes this as roughly the area of two sidewalk panels.
Collection may occur later in the week, so leave the prepared pile accessible.
Call when the map is unclear or a scheduled zone week appears to have been missed.
Street placement and weekly carts
Build the pile against the curb only one day ahead
Place the monthly pile in the street against the curb in front of the property no more than 24 hours before the service week begins. Box toilets and small loose items. Cut wood and tree trimmings to four feet or less, and separate green waste when the City instructs residents to do so.
Avoid leaving bulk in the street throughout the prior week.
Use the City issued refuse cart on the assigned address day.
The assigned day depends on the residential route.
Keep paint, batteries, medical waste, dirt, rock, remodeling debris, and coolant appliances out.
Common questions
Avondale bulk trash questions
Do I schedule Avondale bulk trash pickup?
Not for the standard monthly service. Find the address's zone on the City schedule, then place the prepared pile at the curb for that zone week. The final setout deadline is 5 a.m. Monday, even though collection may occur later in the week.
How large can an Avondale bulk pile be?
The monthly limit is three cubic yards per household. Avondale describes that amount as approximately the area of two sidewalk panels. Separate and prepare materials so the pile stays safe and accessible from the street.
Can I set Avondale bulk trash out the week before?
No. The City says material should go into the street against the curb no more than 24 hours before the Monday starting the service week. Keep it in front of the property and do not block normal travel or drainage.
